Some Notes and Observation from the Digital Competitions
1. Please follow the instructions in the Digital
Competition Guidelines. It is important that you use 1024 pixels dimension in your larger dimension. Smaller dimension (except for the verticals, where 768 pixels are sufficient), will cause the
image to be smaller in projection than it is possible. Larger dimension will not show better in projection, it just take longer to project and will take more space in backups. Please do compress to
less than 200k, unless absolutely necessary.
2. Generally, the colours of the projected images looks good. The sharpness of the images is acceptable.
3. If it does not look sharp on your screen, it will not look sharp when projected. Usually, a moderate digital sharpening is recommended. Preview during
the sharpening; over sharpened images do not look good.
4. Vertical images are shown in somewhat smaller size, to fit the digital projector screen that is basically horizontal.
5. Please rotate vertical images before submission. If they are sent as horizontal, additional rotation and re-saving is necessary. This can
degrade the image.
6. The Club has now its own projector. As it is more powerful than the one used before, make sure that the images are not too bright as they
look overexposed when projected.
7. Images with too much white and with very dark areas do not look good in projection. Try to avoid or edit out such images.
